At age 6, Adyline Nicklow is our youngest competitor this year. She is originally from Anderson, SC, but moved to Carteret County as an infant. She is daughter to parents Andrew Nicklow and Ashley Allen, and caregiver to her Bernese Mountain Dog, Fiona and cat Chloe. Adyline is a girl that likes a challenge, taking on the Penguin Plunge in 2016 as its youngest participant.
Her hobbies include dance, martial arts and music.....including 3 years of studio dance experience. When she's not helping out in her grandfather's bike shop, she and grandfather, Bryan, are exchanging dance moves, meshing Bryan's 80's moves with Adyline's more contemporary ones. She is confident that their routine will be fun and entertaining.
Bryan Nicklow is Grandpa to Adyline and pet human to dog, Tonka. He is a native of Rockwood, PA, but moved to North Carolina during active service in the Marine Corps. He is an avid recycler - passionate about finding usable items, fixing them and finding ways to reuse or otherwise sell them. Following retirement from the Marine Corp in 2007, Bryan settled in Carteret County and put his talents to work, opening Beach Wheels Bike Rentals and Island Encore Consignment Shop in 2009.
His hobbies are music....and you guessed it....bicycles! His experience may not be in dance, but he has traveled Australia's Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to the 12 Apostles in time to catch the sunset.
